CLINT SMITH CLAIMS MSCCS CHECKERS AT JMS
“The Cat Daddy” Clint Smith made a surprise visit to Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Mississippi on Saturday night, and it paid off in a big way as he claimed the $2,500 top prize in the Extreme Wireless Super Late Model event.
The evening’s Extreme Wireless Super Late Model event was sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series and feature a 50 lap main event. Twenty-Nine Super Late Models signed in to do battle with David Breazeale setting quick time around the ¼ mile oval. Breazeale would win the pole sitters dash, and earn the pole position for the feature event. Clint Smith would start to his outside with Breazeale snagging the lead at the drop of the green flag. Breazeale would lead for three laps before rolling to a stop with a broken left front shock bolt. He would head pitside and rejoin the back of the pack. Smith inherited the lead and never looked back en route to the win. Behind Smith, things would not be as easy as several drivers battled for the top five spots. At the finish line Jimmy Cliburn, David Ashley, Scott Slay, and Billy Moyer Jr. rounded out the top five.
In the Franklin Paving UMP Open Wheel Modified division Ryan Allday picked up another feature win with Al Thomas, Ben Stephens, Billy Collett, and Toby Hodge rounding out the top five.
The Trick Race & Hawkins Machine Shop Street Stock division saw Greg Lockhart take the top spot as David Nations and Edmond Jenkins claimed the podium spots.
Cliff Williams picked up another win in the Home Improvement Company Limited Late Model division. Mike Boland, Rick Rawson, Jarrette Gunn, and Kevin Whittington rounded out the top five finishers at the checkered flag.
Tim Sullivan won the Paul’s Body Shop/HP Graphics Mini Stock feature over Ricky Patterson and Jessie Bishop.
The Touch of Class Body Shop Stingers division saw Caleb Langford outrun Iris Williamson and Daniel Sistrunk to the checkered flag.
Jackson Motor Speedway rolls on this Saturday, July 12th with a $1,000 to win, 20 lap Trick Race & Hawkins Machine Shop Street Stock Madness Race PLUS a complete Weekly Racing Series Event.
Also in action this Saturday at JMS will be the Extreme Wireless Super Late Models ($1,200 to win with 16+ cars), The Home Improvement Company Limited Late Models, Paul’s Body Shop/HP Graphics Mini Stocks, the Touch of Class Body Shop Stingers, and the Franklin Paving UMP Open Wheel Modifieds.
Grandstand general admission for the event is $12 for adults, $6 for children (7-12 years of age), $6 for seniors (65 and older), and children 6 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Pit admission for adults is $25, $15 for children (7-12 years of age), seniors (65 years of age and older) are $15, and children 6 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Pit gates open at 4 pm with the grandstand area opening at 5 pm and racing action at 7 pm.
MSCCS SUPER LATE MODELS RETURN TO JMS THIS SATURDAY
Courtesy of a last minute schedule addition, the stars and cars of the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series Super Late Models will invade Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Mississippi this Saturday, July 5th.
This past Saturday’s program fell victim to widespread rain. As a result all of the competitors and fans will be fresh for this Saturday’s $2,500 to win/$300 to start, 50 lap Super Late Model event.
The format for this event will consist of Pole Qualifying locking in 8 qualifiers for the feature. B-Mains will be used to fill positions 9 thru 20. Two provisionals from the MSCCS point’s standings will fill positions 21 and 22, while position 23 will be from the B & K Underground Luck of the Draw Award. There will be a $100 entry fee with all non-qualifiers getting $100.
This will be the third attempt for the MSCCS to hold an event at Jackson Motor Speedway with Mother Nature being the winner of the previous two attempts.

Pit gates open at 4 pm with the grandstand area opening at 5 pm. Driver’s meeting will be at 6 pm with hotlaps at 6:15 pm and MSCCS Super Late Model qualifying at 7 pm.
